1 year agoFilament Eruption
A very long solar filament that had been snaking around the Sun erupted today (Dec. 6, 2010) with a flourish. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) caught the action in dramatic detail in extreme ultraviolet light of Helium. It had been almost a million km long ((about half a solar radius) and a prominent feature on the Sun visible over two weeks ago before it rotated out of view. Filaments are elongated clouds of cooler gases suspended above the Sun by magnetic forces. They are rather unstable and often break away from the Sun. Note: the edge of the moon can be glimpsed at 0300 UT during a brief lunar transit. (via NASA)

I adore New Order’s Temptation. It’s my go to song when I just want to dance around my house. And well this cover by Jennifer Left is much better for say a slow dancing session and that’s not a terrible thing at all. This is the bossa nova version of Temptation and I have a feeling it’s gonna make you want to hear more from Jen. I know I do!
And I never met anyone quite like you before…
3 years agoKaren Souza, Creep. This is a Radiohead cover, after it’s been thrown into a cocktail shaker. I love it. Listen the rest of the album, Vintage Café, here. Other covered bands include No Doubt, The Cure, Rolling Stones, The Clash, Crystal Waters, and more!
